The testnet
Everything in Divi Games runs on Divi testnet and uses testnet tokens only. These are games, not gambling: no real-value token can be deposited, nothing can be cashed out for value, and the site says so.
The testnet is a second Divi network with its own coins that have no market value. Developers use it to try things without risk. Testnet addresses use version byte 139, so they look different from mainnet addresses.
Two layers
| Layer | What it is | Money on it |
|---|---|---|
| Divi testnet | The real Divi chain, test version | testnet DIVI |
| Divi Games side-chain | A small chain run by the operator that runs games | GOLD, TDIVI and tokens games create |
The side-chain is separate from Divi. It borrows Divi in two ways that later courses cover: it reads Divi block hashes as checkpoints, and it writes its own fingerprints into Divi testnet transactions (anchors).
The tokens you will meet
- GOLD: the native "game money", 2 decimals. Anyone can claim some from the faucet.
- TDIVI: testnet DIVI bridged onto the side-chain, 8 decimals.
You do not need any testnet DIVI to start playing. GOLD from the faucet is enough for tic-tac-toe, and the site never asks you for anything of value.
