Swap safety checklist

Before you lock anything:

• [ ] Use a fresh random secret and keep it private until you claim.
• [ ] Confirm the other side's lock exists, has the same hashlock, pays you, and has the right amount.
• [ ] Make the secret-holder's timeout the longer one.
• [ ] Leave enough margin for confirmations: Divi blocks and side-chain blocks run at different speeds (timeouts are side-chain heights, not times).
• [ ] If the other party goes quiet, refund after your timeout instead of waiting.

Reading receipts

The preimage appears in the htlc/claim receipt, so anyone watching the chain learns s when it is claimed. That is how the second party gets it. It also means a secret can never be reused for another swap.

Bridge or swap?

Use the bridge for convenience with small testnet amounts, and swaps when you want to rely on no one.
